The creation of the WAU Electric Bike all started from our love of electric vehicles.

These sustainably fuelled beasts have dominated the market and for good reason too. They look incredible, boast zero emissions, they’re technically advanced and cheaper to run than their oil counterparts.

Owner’s of these futuristic cars wear them like a badge of honour and road travel for them has never been the same.

We too, were blown away by their capabilities but they still weren’t ticking all the boxes for us. At the end of the day, they are still cars and they still encounter the same issues.

We’re talking hefty price tags, traffic jams and limited car parking spaces. That’s not to mention their own unique set of limitations which includes lack of charging infrastructure along with city councils looking to push all cars out in the long term making city travel world-wide harder than ever before. 

The founders of WAU wanted a 2 wheel version of the smart electric car but there wasn’t one on the market. The only things that were available were standard electric bikes which couldn’t go the distance, didn’t look particularly ‘cool’ and their lack of technical features left a lot to be desired. This was why we created the WAU X Plus Electric Bike.

We wanted to take all of the incredible aspects of the large, performance electric vehicles and make them portable, affordable and highly desirable.

Now you really can do what you want, where you want, when you want with zero limitations.

Who are WAU?

WAU (We Are Universal) created a genuinely best in class smart electric bike which will take you much further than ever before.

Just like you, we were keen to reap the benefits of an electric vehicle but we needed something that would go the distance, and we learnt that all electric bikes on the market had one thing in common, they lacked the endurance needed to take you where you wanted to go.

You don't want to be worrying about whether you’ve got enough battery to get you home, so why don’t any bikes give you that guarantee? 

Enter WAU. We used this gap in the market to drive the creation of the world’s longest-range electric bike. We’ve risen to the top leaving our competition in the dust and we couldn’t have done any of it without the genuine help from our global rider community.

How Our Global Rider Community Helped Us Develop The Only Smart E-Bike That Can Go The Distance 

It all started in Nottingham back in 2018 when our founders Linas and Crystal hand-built and programmed the first-ever WAU Smart Electric Bike.

It was sleek, smart and safe but there was just one thing missing. Crucial, direct input from our beloved rider community around the globe.

They supported us at every stage and ensured our bike was perfect down to every last detail for our end users.

We worked closely with them ensuring every step in the design process mirrored their needs and desires. A huge proportion of the feedback was around range-anxiety, so we doubled down on creating the world’s longest range e-bike.

Road presence and safety was another huge priority for our community which led us to create the world’s first 360-degree smart lights, together with theft being another major concern which is why we also implemented the world-wide theft-elimination tracking.

From the early days, our rider community were the true leaders and we can’t thank them enough. They showed us the way and as a result, the bike was fitted with everything it needed to supercharge through the streets.

We knew that the WAU bike had everything to be the world’s best e-bike which is why our team took some drastic sacrifices to ensure its success. They dropped out of universities, took out personal loans, sold valuable personal items on eBay, gathered every last pound into the company’s pot and went all out for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thankfully, it was all worth it and we can modestly boast about having the most advanced, long range e-bike on the market.

Demand for the WΛU smart e-Bike has soared and we’re doubling production in our UK plant year on year to keep up with the huge surge in incoming orders.

But with high demand, comes big responsibilities.

This is exactly why the WAU bike is now in its fifth iteration with upcoming over-the-air updates for all riders ensuring it keeps getting better with time, becoming an appreciating asset.

We’re pleased to say that our audience is now global and our bikes can be found in the US, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Belgium, and Japan, to name a few.

Needless to say, this would never have been possible without the help of our excited growing community. They continue to drive us forward as long as we keep taking them where they want to go.
